PHOENIX– Arizona cracked the top 10 in a personal finance website’s ranking of best and worst state economies of 2021.
The Grand Canyon State was ranked No. 9 in WalletHub’s report, which was released Monday.
WalletHub compared all 50 states and the District of Columbia across 29 indicators in three main categories — economic activity, economic health and innovation potential — to calculate the rankings.
According to the report, Arizona ranked No. 5 in economic activity, No. 8 in economic health and No. 17 in innovation potential.
Among the indicators of the study were change in gross domestic product, unemployment rate and percentage of jobs that are in high-tech industries.
Utah had the report’s best economy, with Washington, California, Massachusetts and Idaho rounding out the top five.
