PHOENIX – One man was hospitalized and two dozen people lost their homes in a fire at a Phoenix apartment complex early Friday, first responders said.
The blaze damaged eight units of the three-story building near Loop 101 and 23rd Avenue. More than 70 firefighters from Phoenix and Glendale departments responded to the emergency call.
Crews arrived around 1:30 a.m. to see flames spreading to the roof and residents already out of their homes, Phoenix Fire Department Capt. Kenny Overton said.
A man who suffered minor burns was taken to a hospital in stable condition. No one else was injured, but 24 people and several pets were unable to return to their places.
Cause of the fire was under investigation.
