PHOENIX — Beloved local boutique resort Hermosa Inn, along with the popular Lon’s at the Hermosa restaurant, have been sold to a Colorado-based developer.
The deal was announced Wednesday.
Ron Allred and his son Mike Allred already operate two other Arizona properties, the Rancho Manana Golf Club in Cave Creek and the Tubac Golf Resort and Spa.
“The Hermosa Inn is an iconic property that we hope to make even better,” Ron Allred said in a statement.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Cowboy artist Lon Megargee opened the hotel in Paradise Valley in 1936 as more of a guest ranch for friends and colleagues.
By the mid-1990s, Fred and Jennifer Unger had taken over as owners. They introduced upgrades to the main building, part of which had been heavily damaged in a 1987 fire.
“Jennifer and I feel very fortunate to have created special memories with employees, neighbors and the community over the past 22 years,” Fred Unger said in a statement.
