PHOENIX — Home sweet home is becoming a little less so for Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
The six-term sheriff’s popularity is slipping in the county, according to numbers from Public Policy Polling.
The North Carolina-based firm found that 53 percent of county voters had a negative opinion of the 82-year-old lawman, but he polled better in the rest of the state.
Arpaio has been battling racial profiling and wrongful arrest lawsuits, and contempt of court charges for ignoring a judge’s order.
In January, Arpaio announced he would run for another term.
