PHOENIX– The Arizona Animal Welfare League has partnered with Walter Station Brewery to raise funds for the shelter during its 50th anniversary campaign through the limited-time sale of a special AAWLager.

AAWL, Arizona’s oldest and largest no-kill shelter, will celebrate their 50th anniversary on Aug. 20, and the shelter is attempting to raise $50,000 in order to continue to be able to save animals and provide shelter space for strays.

Walter Station will release the AAWLager on Saturday during a celebration at the brewery from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m. that will be open to the public to raise funds for AAWL while drinking beer and interacting with puppies.

The can design will include unique artwork that features photos of AAWL alumni animals that have been rescued or adopted over the last 50 years, according to a press release.

Since they began as a foster-based animal rescue in 1971, AAWL has expanded to over 100 employees and 600 volunteers that provide services such as a humane education program that services children and teens through camps, leadership opportunities and other learning opportunities.

AAWL also provides a low-cost clinic known as MD PetCare that provides thousands of people with affordable vet services and vaccine clinics, a press release said.

According to AAWL, it only takes $50 to help them save a single animal with rescue and medical treatment, so in order to further encourage donations, the shelter has also partnered with State 48 to make a special 50th anniversary t-shirt available to those who donate at least $50.

The 6-packs of AAWLager will be available at Walter Station, located at 4056 E. Washington St., and other participating beer shops during the summer starting on Saturday.

We want to hear from you.
