PHOENIX — Phoenix will host an event on par with that of Super Bowl Central next year when the Valley welcomes the second-ever college football playoff championship.
Bill Hancock, executive director of the College Football Playoff, said the massive event surrounding the 2015 Super Bowl was integral to fan experience.
“Citizens need to touch the event,” he said.
Hancock said the event will offer two worlds under one umbrella in downtown.
“There will be two signature events here: Our fan festival, which we call Playoff Fan Central, and also our concert series, Playoff Playlist Live,” he said.
According to Hancock, the scale of Super Bowl Central demonstrated Phoenix is capable of handling large-scale events and was part of the reason the Valley was awarded the championship game.
Super Bowl Central brought hundreds of thousands of football fans to downtown Phoenix.
The game will be played at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale on Jan. 11.
