PHOENIX — The Phoenix Police Department is looking for a suspect after a 29-year-old woman was struck and killed on Sunday evening, authorities said.

Police responded to the area near 39th and Grand Avenues around 10:30 p.m. about a call of a person who’d been struck by a car.

The woman, Adriana Cuevas, was pronounced dead on the scene, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

Preliminary information shows Cuevas was in the roadway when she was struck by a car traveling southeast on Grand Avenue that didn’t stop or remain on-scene, according to Sgt. Ann Justus.

Cuevas was struck by a second car heading in the same direction. The driver of the second vehicle stopped and stayed on-site.

There were no signs of impairment with the second driver, according to Justus.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Phoenix police at 602-262-6151 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (948-6377) or 480-TESTIGO (837-8446) for Spanish.
