PHOENIX — K9 Drax of the Buckeye Police Department is getting a wardrobe update.
The Police Department has received a donation from the non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.
Drax will be fitted with a bullet- and stab-protective vest.
The vest will be embroidered with the message “This gift of protection provided by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.”
Each bulletproof vest is worth $1,744-$2,283 and typically weighs four to five pounds.
Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., which opened its doors in 2009, has provided over 4,275 bullet and stab protective vests to K9s in all 50 states.
The Buckeye Police Department is expected to receive the vests in eight to ten weeks.
