PHOENIX – Authorities said Friday that tips from the public helped investigators identify the suspect in a hit-and-run collision that killed a bicyclist in Fountain Hills this week.

Gage Grimes, 27, was booked on one count of leaving the scene of a fatal accident in the death of Debra Ceschin, 57, according to a Maricopa County Sherriff’s Office press release.

A passerby reported finding Ceschin deceased on McDowell Mountain Road, near the entrance of McDowell Mountain Park, about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.

A witness told MCSO that two men were seen getting out of a white truck and inspecting the vehicle near the park entrance around that time.

MCSO distributed an image of a damaged truck that was captured on video the morning of the incident.

Several tips led MCSO vehicular crimes unit detectives to Grimes, the agency said.

No other information was immediately available.
