PHOENIX — Forward progress was stopped Thursday night on a wildfire burning in Yavapai County that forced hundreds to evacuate and burned multiple structures, according to authorities.

Evacuations remain in place for those east of Lindahl Road and those north of Main Street in Bagdad, which is about 125 miles northwest of Phoenix.

Tiffany Davila with the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Thursday that 1,500 people have been evacuated.

Those evacuated can take shelter at the Hassayampa School in Wickenburg, according to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office.

The wildfire has also destroyed 13 homes, according to authorities.

The fire – known as the Spur Fire – has burned 150 acres as of Thursday evening but was 25% contained.

Authorities said there is approximately 75 personnel assigned to the blaze.

State Routes 96 and 97 coming into Bagdad are both closed.

No additional information was immediately made available.
