PHOENIX – With summer approaching and states continuing to ease COVID-19 restrictions, people can seek summer employment in industries returning to full capacity.

According to a WalletHub report released Wednesday, Scottsdale placed No. 1 out of 182 markets for the best places for summer jobs across the United States.

The report used two key factors — youth job market and social environment/affordability — to rank the 182 markets. Scottsdale was No. 2 for youth job market and No. 9 for social environment/affordability.

Both dimensions were evaluated using 23 metrics, each graded on a 100-point scale, with a score of 100 representing the most favorable conditions for individuals seeking summer work.

Some of the key metrics used to determine the best cities include a spike in summer employment, internship availability, income of part-time workers and commuter friendliness.

Two other Arizona cities, Tempe and Chandler, ranked in the top 20.

Scottsdale was followed by: Bismarck, ND; Cheyenne, WY; Billings, MT; and Salt Lake City, UT.
