PHOENIX — Phoenix Children’s is investing $135 million to build a three-story hospital in the West Valley, the pediatric health care provider announced Wednesday.

The Phoenix Children’s Hospital’s Arrowhead Campus will be located at 67th Avenue and Union Hills Drive on the north end of the Abrazo Arrowhead Campus in Glendale.

The 180,000-square-foot facility is expected to open in spring 2024 and will provide about 475 jobs.

“We go where the kids are and right now it’s the northwest Valley,” Phoenix Children’s President and CEO Bob Meyer told KTAR News 92.3 FM.

The hospital will offer 24 inpatient beds to start with room to double that total to 48.

There will also be six operating rooms, two minor procedure rooms and 30 emergency bays/trauma rooms.

A 45,000-square-foot medical office building will house orthopedics, neurology, cardiology, oncology and numerous other specialty services.

“We are very much statewide and Valley-wide and that’s the point we’re making here,” Meyer said.

The project is the third Phoenix Children’s has announced for the West Valley in the past six months.

Plans to build the Phoenix Children’s Hospital’s Southwest Campus, a freestanding emergency department and expanded specialty clinic in Avondale, were unveiled in March and the facility is expected to open in 2023.

Phoenix Children’s Sports Medicine Clinic in Avondale is expected to open later this year.

The investment for all three West Valley projects totals more than $200 million.

Phoenix Children’s offers services at more than 40 locations across Arizona, including its main campus on Thomas Road off SR 51 in Phoenix.
