PHOENIX – A toddler and two adults managed to escape an apartment fire in Phoenix with minor burns, first responders said.
A dozen other people were forced out of their homes at the building near 75th Avenue and Indian School Road around 10:30 p.m. Monday, the Phoenix Fire Department said.
In all, four units were damaged by fire and smoke, Capt. Todd Kelly said in an email.
A 1-year-old boy, a 23-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman were taken to a medical facility in stable condition for treatment of burns and smoke inhalation.
Fire crews from Phoenix, Glendale and Avondale were sent to the blaze. Flames and smoke were coming from two ground-floor units and the two apartments above them.
First responders reached one of the apartments just as the group of three was coming out the door.
Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
No other details were immediately available.
