PHOENIX — The Arizona Department of Public Safety is providing security for Secretary of State Katie Hobbs in response to threats made to the Democrat over her opposition of the state Senate’s audit of Maricopa County election results.

DPS confirmed Friday to KTAR News 92.3 FM in an email that security was in place for Hobbs, who has detailed threats made against her in recent days as she has fought against an audit she says has shoddy policies and procedures.

Hobbs said Thursday on Twitter that a man called her office saying she deserved to die and wanted to know “what she is wearing so she’ll be easy to get.”

It was one of three threats made against her Thursday, according to Hobbs.

“Let me be very clear: I will never be intimidated out of telling the truth, defending our elections and serving the people of Arizona,” Hobbs said in a tweet Friday.

It’s not the first time Hobbs has been threatened over the 2020 election.

Video obtained by ABC15 in November showed protestors outside of Hobbs’ home repeatedly asking for an audit of results.

Hobbs said then that her family and staff had been the subjects of threats as a result of the election.

Cyber Ninjas, the Arizona Senate’s contractor, is in the midst of counting of the 2.1 million ballots from the November election won by President Joe Biden.
