Valley Metro seeks artist for streetcar opening in Tempe

PHOENIX — Local artists are invited by Valley Metro to create and submit their artwork for a poster to celebrate the opening of the new streetcar in Tempe later this year.
The artwork should commemorate the streetcar, highlight Tempe’s culture and recognize the city for its commitment to transit, according to a press release Wednesday by Valley Metro.
One artist or a team of artists will be selected and receive a $1,500 honorarium.
The selected winner will provide licensing and reproduction rights of the artwork and permit photography of artworks, including use in promotional materials.
Applicants must be 18 years old and a registered Articipant with Artlink Inc.
Artist’s can submit their applications on the organization’s website.
The calling for artists closes at 5 p.m. on June 11.
Preference will be given to students and those with a close connection to the city of Tempe, according to the release.
