Smoky new restaurant Renata’s Hearth set to open at Phoenix’s Biltmore resort

PHOENIX – A new restaurant featuring a menu infused with smoky South and Central American flavors is set to open this month at Phoenix’s revitalized Arizona Biltmore, A Waldorf Astoria Resort.

Renata’s Hearth will start serving up exotic dishes such as mole negro rubbed smoked Wagyu brisket, grilled branzino and pozole blanco starting May 18. Reservations are now available online.

Chef Jesus Figueroa Ortega, previously a sous chef at Tarbell’s in Phoenix and Café Monarch in Scottsdale, designed the menu.

The restaurant’s drink options will include libations crafted in a smoking cloche.

“We believe that Renata’s Hearth will be unlike any other restaurant that exists in the current Arizona culinary scene,” general manager Cornelius Cover said in a press release.

“The alchemy of authentic flavors and the essence of smoke mesh in a sophisticated atmosphere perfect for nights out and special occasions.”

The Arizona Biltmore, a Valley symbol of luxury at 24th Street and Missouri Avenue since 1929, closed more than a year ago because of the COVID-19 pandemic and reopened May 1 after undergoing a $70 million renovation.

In addition to Renata’s Hearth, the iconic resort unveiled the Spire Bar, a new outdoor venue surrounded by fire pits and water features.

CORRECTION: Earlier versions of this story misspelled the name of the restaurant as Heath, when it should have been Hearth. We regret the error.
