PHOENIX — A man has been arrested in connection with the bloody death of his mother in Phoenix, police say.
Jesus Gamez Ruiz, 24, was booked into jail for one count of first degree murder of his mother, Nora Ruiz.
Nora Ruiz was found dead on Monday with multiple lacerations, and a circular saw and concrete saw were both found nearby with blood on them.
On Monday around 2 p.m., Jesus Ruiz arrived at a hospital near Third Street and Dunlap Avenue with injuries that didn’t align with information he provided hospital staff, prompting the Phoenix Police Department to become involved.
A Phoenix Police officer working in an off-duty capacity found the car he arrived in. The officer told on-duty officers, who recognized an address associated with the truck as a home they’d responded to in the past.
Police went to his house to run a welfare check and saw blood on the front door. When they looked through a window, they saw the woman on the floor, surrounded by blood.
The officers went inside to help, but she was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police said Ruiz admitted his involvement in the murder during an interview with investigators.
