PHOENIX — Valley drivers will face closures on sections of Loop 101, Interstate 10 and State Route 51 this weekend, the Arizona Department of Transportation announced Thursday.

The eastbound Loop 101 Pima Freeway will be closed between Interstate 17 and Seventh Street in north Phoenix from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for a widening project.

Both I-17 ramps to eastbound Loop 101 and the eastbound Loop 101 on-ramp at 27th Avenue will be closed as part of the project.

The westbound Loop 101 primary ramp to southbound SR 51 will also be closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for paving. The westbound Loop 101 HOV lane ramp to southbound SR 51 will remain open as an alternate route.

Pavement repair work will force the closure of the northbound SR 51 Piestewa Freeway between Indian School and Camelback roads from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. The northbound SR 51 on-ramp at Thomas Road and off-ramp at Bethany Home Road will also be closed.

The third highway closure is westbound I-10 between the I-17 “Split” interchange near Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and Seventh Avenue from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday for tunnel lighting work.

As part of the project, the southbound SR 51 ramp to westbound I-10 will be closed. The westbound Loop 202 ramp to westbound I-10 will remain open, but traffic must exit I-10 at Seventh Street.

The southbound I-17 ramp at westbound I-10 (including access to Sky Harbor Airport) at the Split interchange and the westbound I-10 HOV on-ramp at Fifth Avenue are also closed.

The westbound Sky Harbor Boulevard ramp to westbound I-10 will be open but traffic is limited to accessing northbound SR 51 and eastbound Loop 202. The Westbound I-10 on-ramp at Washington Street will also be restricted with access limited to northbound SR 51 or eastbound Loop 202.

The final weekend travel advisory is in the southeast part of the Valley as eastbound I-10 will be narrowed to three lanes with the left two lanes closed between 48th Street/SR 143 and Southern Avenue from 10 p.m. Friday to 7 p.m. Saturday and from 4 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday for pre-construction survey work.
