Pedestrian dead after hit-and-run collision with truck on Phoenix street

PHOENIX – Authorities are searching for the driver of a pickup truck that struck and killed a pedestrian before fleeing in west Phoenix on Monday night.
A 51-year-old man was crossing McDowell Road mid-block east of 67th Avenue around 9:45 p.m. when the dark-colored truck hit him, the Phoenix Police Department said in a press release Tuesday.
The truck, which had been traveling westbound, left the scene and headed north on 67th Avenue, police said.
The victim, who wasn’t named, was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital.
No other details were made available.
