PHOENIX – If you’re wondering when Rage Against the Machine will make its long-anticipated return to the Valley, your wait is over.

But you’ll need another year of patience before the shows finally go on.

The rap-rock pioneers announced last week they have re-rescheduled their two shows at Gila River Arena in Glendale for April 4 and 6, 2022.

That will be nearly 2½ years since the revered band announced in November 2019 that its Public Service Announcement tour would include a Phoenix-area stop.

A single Gila River Arena show was initially set for March 30, 2020, with high demand leading to the addition of a second performance two days later.

Less than two weeks before the first scheduled show, the band announced it was postponing its reunion tour because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The shows were initially moved to June 7-8 of this year before the tour was again put on hold.

All previously purchased tickets remain good for next year’s dates, and seats remain available for both shows. Refunds can be requested for a limited time.

And as with the original dates, Rage Against the Machine will be supported by Run the Jewels next year.

The Valley shows will be the third and fourth of the tour, which begins March 31, 2022, in El Paso, Texas.

Rage Against the Machine formed in Los Angeles in 1991 and became highly influential despite releasing just four studio albums, the most recent in 2000. The band known for pounding guitar riffs and politically charges lyrics last performed together live in 2011.

According to Setlist.FM, the band’s last Arizona appearance was in December 1999 at America West Arena (now Phoenix Suns Arena).

After being nominated and missing the final cut in 2017, 2018 and 2019, the two-time Grammy Award winners are again nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year.

We want to hear from you.
