PHOENIX – Authorities in northern Arizona said firefighters found human remains while putting out a blaze after an explosion at a ranch.
The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office said a blast was reported Saturday around 3 p.m. close to Seligman, about 75 miles west of Flagstaff.
Deputies and a crew from the Seligman Fire Department arrived to find a house on the Boquillas Ranch property engulfed in flames. Fire was spreading to other structures at the site.
After the fire was put out, crews came across the human remains.
The victim hasn’t been identified, but employees who discovered the fire told deputies that a staff member lived in the burning house. They also said a vehicle parked nearby belonged to the person.
The flames also destroyed a barn and other structures, authorities said.
Cause of the explosion, fire and death are under investigation.
