Arizona woman accused of fraudulent schemes arrested in Michigan
PHOENIX — A woman wanted in connection to a fraud investigation in Cottonwood was recently arrested in Michigan after several years on the run, according to authorities.
Police in Oakland County, Michigan, arrested Traci Ann Koelzer who has since been extradited back to Yavapai County.
The arrest was made after a citizen provided authorities information of Koelzer’s whereabouts, according to a press release.
Koelzer is being held at the Yavapai County Detention Facility on charges of fraudulent schemes and artifices and theft, which are both class two felonies.
She is also being held on a probation violation charge which is unrelated to her fraudulent case, police stated.
The Cottonwood Police Department in April 2018 received a fraud report involving the Old Town Association.
Detectives learned that the then 49-year-old Koelzer was the treasurer for the Old Town Association and identified her as a suspect.
The financial loss exceeded $100,000, according to the release.
It appeared that Koelzer became aware of the pending criminal investigation and fled the area, authorities said.
Koelzer’s bond is set at $50,000 cash only.
