PHOENIX — After a shortened season last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Salt River Tubing will make its return next month.
Those wanting to float down the Salt River can do so starting May 1, the official start for its 41st season, according to a press release.
Tubing will be available each day from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. throughout the season as long as conditions permit.
Safety precautions will be in place, including distancing and sanitizing on shuttle buses, the requirement of face coverings during the rental process and a limit of 10 people per group.
Employees will also be required to wear face masks and gloves.
Tickets start at $19 and include tube rental, shuttle bus rides and parking.
Salt River Tubing closed June 29, 2020, under Gov. Doug Ducey’s executive order that shut down the state’s indoor gyms, bars/nightclubs, indoor theaters, water parks and tubing operators.
The order was issued as coronavirus cases spiked across Arizona.
Clearance to resume operations was given in late August, but Salt River Tubing said that it would not reopen.
The popular attraction said it usually operates Fridays-Sundays in the late summer until the end of September.
That meant there would have been only 16 days remaining in its season, making restarting unfeasible.
