PHOENIX – A man carrying a realistic air rifle on a rooftop in downtown Flagstaff was arrested Tuesday night after allegedly threatening to kill his sister, authorities said.
Reports of a suspicious individual in the area of Benton Avenue and San Francisco Street came in around 11 p.m., the Flagstaff Police Department said Wednesday in a press release.
Responding officers spotted the man on a building with a rifle tucked under his arm before he moved out of sight, police said.
Authorities shut down streets and evacuated homes and businesses in the area while they tried to locate the suspect.
Officers found Scott Warren lying behind an air conditioning unit on the roof, police said. They convinced him to move away from the rifle before taking him into custody and reopening the area.
Police said the air rifle looked like a real firearm with a scope and suppressor.
Warren allegedly threatened his sister’s life during a domestic altercation before he was spotted on the roof, police learned.
The sister’s business is located on the block where the incident took place.
