PHOENIX – A 70-year-old woman died early Tuesday after getting hit by a car while crossing a west Phoenix street, authorities said.

Citing witness reports, the Phoenix Police Department said the pedestrian didn’t yield the right of way while crossing at the intersection of 67th Avenue and McDowell Road just after 1 a.m.

The woman, whose name was being withheld pending next-of-kin notification, died after being taken to a hospital, police said.

The driver remained on the scene and was cooperative, police said.

Police don’t believe impairment was a factor.

No other information was made available.
