PHOENIX – Police in Glendale said one person was killed after crashing into a canal in a hit-and-run wreck early Tuesday.
A Glendale Police Department spokesman said a dark sedan ran a red light and slammed into a truck at 99th and Maryland avenues shorty before 1 a.m. The force of the collision sent a truck with a lone occupant into the canal near the intersection.
Leauna Christensen, 50, of Phoenix was pronounced dead at the scene. Her truck rolled over before landing in the canal.
The driver of the car fled the scene but police said Wednesday a suspect had been identified. They were not releasing his name yet, they said.
No other details were immediately available.
