PHOENIX – A man who was reported missing at Arizona Snowbowl in the Flagstaff area was found dead Sunday, authorities said.
Coconino County Sheriff’s officials said Vsevolod Mikhailovich Predtechenskliy was found Sunday around 9 a.m. far off the Volcano ski run in a tree well.
They said the 56-year-old was last seen by family members in Chandler at 7 a.m. Saturday, when he left for the ski resort with plans to go snowboarding. When he didn’t return that evening, his family called the sheriff’s office shortly before midnight.
Predtechenskliy had Skyped with his family around 10 a.m. once he reached the resort.
Authorities said his compact SUV was found in the resort parking lot and that he used his pass to ride the ski lifts shortly after the video call.
First, a helicopter rescue crew searched for Predtechenskliy, who would sometimes go a little off path, his family said, but added he knew the Snowbowl area well and wasn’t adventurous.
Next, a ground search was launched. Resort personnel joined and found the body.
An investigation is ongoing.
