PHOENIX — Valley drivers will face a closure on a portion of Loop 101 in north Phoenix and a variety of highway restrictions this weekend, the Arizona Department of Transportation announced Thursday.

The eastbound Loop 101 Pima Freeway will be closed between SR 51 and 56th Street from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for pavement diamond grinding as a widening project continues.

Northbound SR 51 ramps to eastbound Loop 101 – including the HOV ramp – and the eastbound Loop 101 on-ramps at Cave Creek Road and Tatum Boulevard will also be closed.

Intermittent rolling closures in both directions on the Loop 202 Santan Freeway will occur overnight between Interstate 10 and Kyrene Road in Chandler from 7 p.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Sunday for Salt River Project overhead utility line work. All I-10 ramps to eastbound Loop 202 will be closed.

Officers will slow or hold traffic for up to 15 minutes before each closure as needed for the utility work.

The right three lanes of the westbound US 60 Superstition Freeway in Tempe will be closed between Rural Road and I-10 from 10 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday and from 8 p.m. Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday for pre-construction survey work.

The westbound US 60 primary ramp to westbound I-10 (toward Phoenix) and the westbound US 60 on-ramps at Rural Road and Mill Avenue will be closed. However, the westbound US 60 HOV ramp to westbound I-10 will remain open.

The eastbound Loop 202 Santan Freeway off-ramp at Val Vista Drive and westbound off-ramp at Gilbert Road will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday to noon on Saturday for interchange construction.

In addition, the right lane of Eastbound Loop 202 between Lindsay Road and Val Vista Drive and the Westbound Loop 202 right lane between Lindsay and Gilbert roads will both be closed.

The southbound Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway in the West Valley will be restricted overnight with rolling lane closures in areas between Thunderbird Road and I-10 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Tuesday nights for lane striping.
