PHOENIX — A surf lagoon and multi-use development project is set to break ground in Mesa next week, according to a press release.
Construction at Surf’s Up Mesa! will begin next Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the location at Power and Warner roads.
The 37-acre project will feature a 3.3-acre surf lagoon, on-site hotel, gym, shop and more.
The lagoon will have Swell MFG’s traveling surf technology and UNIT Surf Pool’s stationary rapid surf technology.
The new technology is hailed for its ability to cater to all skill levels.
“The Swell MFG will create peak waves and provide some of the most epic and diverse wave sets for every level of surfer,” Matt Gunn, co-founder of Swell MFG, said in the release. “We look forward to welcoming every level of surfer to enjoy this surf lagoon.”
The development is being built in the East Valley to cater to a growing population of Californians who have moved to Arizona, according to the release.
It is expected to be open May 2022 with other amenities to be available soon after.
