PHOENIX — An acclaimed Phoenix restaurant is moving from its original location after 31 years.

Chino Bandido, the Chinese-Mexican-Jamaican fusion spot, is relocating from its site near 19th Avenue and Greenway Road to a larger, more modern space.

The new 6,000-square-foot location near Third Avenue and Bell Road is expected to open in early June, according to a press release.

The original location will continue to operate daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. until then.

“After 31 years, I knew it was time for a change,” co-owner Eve Collins said in the release. “Chino Bandido has been my labor of love for over half my life. Our customers’ extreme loyalty got us through the pandemic and I could not be more excited for the next chapter in our history.”

The new location will have a patio that is able to serve 30 people in addition to other upgraded features.

Pancho, the restaurant’s iconic 7,500-pound custom-made black granite bear, is already at the Bell Road location.

Chino Bandido has been featured multiple times on the Food Network show “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.”
