PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Health Services said 5,000 COVID-19 vaccination appointments will be available Thursday at two of the state-run sites because of cancellations.

Public health officials said 3,000 appointments for 55 and older would be open at State Farm Stadium in Glendale and 2,000 at Chandler-Gilbert Community College. Registration was underway online and was scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. at the call center at 1-844-542-8201.

The health department announced Wednesday it was adding more appointments to all four state-run sites on a regular basis. The slots will open every Friday for the following week.

That will start Friday at 11 a.m. for the week of March 22-28.

Approximately 37,000 appointments for that week will be available at the State Farm Stadium site in Glendale, along with 16,000 at Phoenix Municipal Stadium, 14,000 at Chandler-Gilbert Community College and 12,000 at the University of Arizona in Tucson.

Arizona passed one million people who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 on Tuesday, according to health services’ dashboard.

Overall, 2.6 million vaccine doses have been administered and nearly one-quarter of Arizona’s population has received at least one COVID-19 vaccination.

For details about statewide COVID-19 vaccine availability, the ADHS website has a vaccine-finder page with a map of locations and information about registration and eligibility.
