PHOENIX — The Scottsdale Police Department on Tuesday announced the arrest of another suspect linked to the looting at the Fashion Square mall last year.
Phoenix resident Paul Anthony Ruiz, 25, was taken into custody on March 4 and is facing nine felony charges of burglary and trafficking stolen property related to his involvement in the incident on the night of May 30.
The man was identified through attempts to sell stolen items from Tiffany and Company and Montblanc, according to a press release, and was also captured on surveillance video removing merchandise from stores during the unrest.
Police say Ruiz still had items from the stores at the time of his arrest last week.
Scottsdale police have now arrested 55 people in connection to the night of unrest and vandalism and have returned over $235,000 worth of merchandise to the businesses, according to the release.
The Fashion Square closed after the incident and didn’t reopen until June 10, with Urban Outfitters, the Apple Store and Neiman Marcus being among the stores that sustained damage.
Authorities say they are still investigating the case and following up on evidence, tips and information.
