1 dead, another injured in Friday night shooting in Phoenix

PHOENIX — One man is dead and another is in serious condition after a shooting in Phoenix on Friday night, according to authorities.

A 32-year-old man identified as Walter L. Wood died after being found by police with gunshot injuries.

Police attempted to administer first aid to the victim after responding to calls of a fight near the intersection of 16th Street and Southern Avenue at around 10:15 p.m.

Another victim, identified as a 34-year-old man, was taken to the hospital by a friend, according to police.

Despite serious injuries, he is expected to survive.

According to police, the suspects in the shooting fled the scene.

Police said an investigation is ongoing.
