Loop 101 in Scottsdale reopens after deadly multivehicle accident

PHOENIX – A motorcycle rider was struck and killed in a multivehicle freeway accident in Scottsdale early Friday, authorities said.
Northbound lanes on Loop 101 Pima Freeway near McDowell Road were shut down to investigate the crash, which happened around 4:35 a.m.
All lanes reopened around 8:15 a.m.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety said the motorcyclist was rear-ended and then hit by a second vehicle.
The closure was extended to the Loop 202 shortly before 7 a.m.
It is the second day in a row a Valley driver was killed in a freeway accident. A driver died in a fiery crash on Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway in Mesa early Thursday.
