PHOENIX – Some, but not all, of Arizona’s weather-delayed COVID-19 vaccine shipments are on their way to the state, authorities said Thursday.

State providers that use the Pfizer vaccine have received shipping confirmations, according to an Arizona Department of Health Services press release.

However, Moderna shipments remain delayed because of the powerful winter storms across much of the country, and it’s not yet known when they’ll arrive.

The major Maricopa and Pima county sites that use the Pfizer vaccine have enough supply to handle all current appointments, according to the release.

Rural counties, which rely on the Moderna vaccine, have reported some cancellations. Anybody with questions about availability should contact their local health departments.

Arizona was due to receive 85,800 Pfizer doses and 90,800 Moderna doses this week.

The Arizona Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 dashboard said Thursday morning that 1,339,829 of the state’s 1,395,300 allocated vaccine doses have been administered, and more than 1 million people have now received at least one shot in Arizona.

The third state-run mass vaccination site, and the first in southern Arizona, began operating Thursday morning at the University of Arizona.

For information about statewide vaccine availability, the ADHS website has a vaccine-finder page with a map of locations and information about registration.

We want to hear from you.
