PHOENIX — A suspect was arrested in Mesa after he allegedly shot a man following a road rage incident in a parking lot, authorities said Thursday.
Timor Shah Gardezy was charged with one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of endangerment following the incident in the area near Gilbert Road and University Drive at about 3:50 p.m. on Tuesday.
In an email, Mesa police said Gardezy became upset because the man in a car ahead of him was driving too slowly out of the apartment complex.
Gardezy and the other driver, whose two children were with him, exited their vehicles and began fighting, police said.
The victim, who hasn’t been identified, returned to his vehicle after the fight. Shortly afterward, Gardezy approached the car, brandished a handgun and began to shoot through the window and the door, according to police.
The victim suffered a gunshot wound to his leg and was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The victim’s 6- and 7-year-old children were in the car during the shooting but were unharmed, police said.
Police detained Gardezy at a nearby complex and a handgun was found in his possession, police said.
Gardezy was being held on $150,000 bond.
