PHOENIX — A toddler was found dead Monday in an unattended hot car in west Phoenix, according to police.
The 2-year-old boy’s father, James Koryor, was arrested and charged with manslaughter.
Police Sgt. Trent Crump said the boy was found by his mother in the back seat early in the afternoon. He had been left in the vehicle for more than two hours.
Relatives told authorities Koryor had been drinking before he left the house with the toddler and a 5-year-old sibling.
Officers responded to the incident near 75th Avenue and Broadway Road around 4 p.m.
The boy’s parents told officers they had been running errands all day and had lost track of who was responsible for him before discovering him lifeless in a Nissan Sentra.
They made attempts to save the boy, who was rushed to Phoenix Children’s Hospital, but he was later pronounced dead.
Police said the couple had another child, who is 10.
