PHOENIX – People age 75 and older are getting more options for where they can get vaccinated for COVID-19 in metro Phoenix.

Appointments are being taken for shots at a new vaccination site near Loop 101 and Scottsdale Road in north Phoenix, Maricopa County Public Health announced Friday.

The site, which offers the Moderna vaccine, is a partnership between Passport Health and the Mollen Foundation. Proof of age is required.

The county is also working to set up vaccination events in the coming weeks for people meeting the age requirement.

Individuals 75 and older who fill out an online form will be notified when events are scheduled in their areas.

There already are 20 grocery store pharmacies in metro Phoenix that offer COVID-19 vaccines for people 75 and older.

Maricopa County also runs five points of dispensing in partnership with Valley hospitals for all eligible priority populations, as well as one at Grand Canyon University.

The county remains in the priority stage of phase 1B for vaccine eligibility, with its age cutoff at 75.

The state runs two mass vaccination sites in the area, at State Farm Stadium in Glendale and Phoenix Municipal Stadium, that are in the same phase but with the lower age requirement of 65.

To learn more about statewide vaccine availability, the Arizona Department of Health Services website has a vaccine-finder page with a map of locations and information about registration.

We want to hear from you.
