PHOENIX — Tempe police have arrested a suspect accused of murder over the sale of a video game system, authorities announced Wednesday.

Gabriel Hernandez was arrested by detectives in Mesa on Tuesday and is being charged with one count of second-degree murder, aggravated assault and misconduct involving weapons, authorities said.

The incident occurred on Monday around 7:10 p.m. at an apartment complex near Mill Avenue and the U.S. 60 in Tempe, police said.

Officers responded to a call of a shooting and located the victim, Daniel Moreno, with a gunshot wound.

Moreno was transported to a local hospital where he would succumb to his injuries, authorities said.

Police said Hernandez went to the apartment in an attempt to collect money he thought was owed to him for the sale of a video game console.

Hernandez then pulled out a weapon and began shooting after he was refused entry to the apartment by Moreno, police said.

No other information was made immediately available.
