Multiple crashes cause delays on southbound I-17 near Camp Verde

Traffic on southbound Interstate 17 is heavily backed up between Camp Verde to just past Black Canyon City, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
Multiple crashes near State Route 179 were reportedly the cause of the delay, along with heavy weekend traffic. The crashes were cleared by 7:15 p.m.
There is a very heavy backup on I-17 SB between mileposts 300-240 (north of Camp Verde to past Black Canyon City). There are multiple crashes near SR 179; there's also heavy weekend traffic. ADOT recommends delaying travel, if possible, or taking an alternate route.
There is no estimated time for the congestion to clear.
The northbound lanes are unaffected.
