PHOENIX — Two pedestrians died from separate collisions in central Phoenix on Friday night.

The first collision occurred near 15th Avenue and Camelback Road around 10:15 p.m. and caused the 36-year-old man to be transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

The man later succumbed to those injuries and the woman who was driving the vehicle stayed on scene after the incident occurred, authorities said.

Impairment is not suspected to have played a role in the collision for the driver, though police said it’s unknown whether the pedestrian was impaired at the time of the collision.

Both the 21-year-old driver and 11-year-old passenger of the vehicle were injured in the incident, authorities said.

A few hours later and several miles west, another pedestrian was struck and killed near the intersection of 37th Avenue and McDowell Road.

The collision occurred around 12:35 a.m. on Saturday, when a vehicle driven by a 50-year-old man collided with a pedestrian walking in the roadway.

The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on the scene of the incident, authorities said.

The driver stayed on scene and authorities said that impairment is not believed to have been a factor.

Investigations into both collisions are ongoing.
