Chandler International Film Festival kicks off on Thursday

PHOENIX — The fifth-annual Chandler International Film Festival will feature something old and plenty of new.
The festival, which starts on Thursday and runs through Sunday, showcases more than 120 films from some 35 countries spanning six continents.
The idea behind the annual event is to celebrate international films in a local setting, fast becoming a mainstay in the East Valley town.
This year’s event will feature a mixture of traditional, in-person screenings, combined with drive-in and online options to minimize viral spread, according to the film festival’s website.
This year’s event will include an opening night ceremony on Thursday to go with filmmaking workshops, discussion panels, a film market and expo and a closing night awards ceremony on Sunday.
Guests at this year’s event include actors Lee Arenberg, Branscombe Richmond, Peter Sherayko, Chris Browning and more, according to the release.
The festival’s proceeds benefit AZCEND community services, as well as ICAN family services, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chandler and Chandler High School.
