Laser Components opens new production facility in Chandler

PHOENIX — Valley-based semiconductor detector company Laser Components Detector Group has found a new home.

The company, which has been building semiconductor detectors in the Valley since 2004, moved into a new warehouse located near the intersection of Arizona Avenue and Warner Road in Chandler.

The 29,000 square-foot facility has enough space to accommodate the company’s 40 employees with room to spare, meaning the company can expand its workforce to upwards of 80 employees at a given time, according to a company press release.

The newly-built warehouse features air locks in entrance areas and in passageways to ensure strict particle control within the space.

The space also has protection against electrostatic discharge on the floors, workstations and clean rooms, meeting industry standards, the release said.

Laser Components will develop and manufacture semiconductor detectors on-site that will be used to detect light and flames and gases.

The company has also developed CO2 detectors that are used in ventilators, which are crucial in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

Laser Components Group CEO Patrick Paul said the company’s decision to build its new warehouse in Chandler stemmed from their desire to be at the forefront of a number of projects that are centered in the Valley.

“For us, the new production center is also a clear commitment to the Phoenix metropolitan region,” Paul said in the press release. “In recent years, Chandler in particular has developed into a center for future technologies such as autonomous driving. We look forward to continuing to operate in such an exciting and dynamic environment.”

Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke added that the Laser Components development is a win-win for the town, with an influx of new jobs coming to the region in an industry that will serve the general public going forward.

“We are thrilled to welcome Laser Components and their highly skilled workforce to our Uptown Chandler employment corridor,” Hartke said.

“This advanced technology company is truly pushing the frontiers of innovation and we wish them many years of success at their state-of-the-art building.”
