PHOENIX — The city of Glendale has launched a virtual portal for businesses to apply for or renew licenses.
The city in a press release Thursday said the virtual portal, named SmartGov, embraces the new social distancing reality amid the coronavirus pandemic while speeding up the transaction process for businesses.
“I have had a lot of experience with business licensing and am very excited for this new and infinitely better process,” Yvonne Knaack, former vice mayor and current downtown Glendale business owner, said in the release.
“It takes most human error out and educates on the regulations and requirements in an orderly and precise manner. I encourage businesses to utilize this portal to build successful and compliant enterprises.”
Business owners can apply for or renew a license with the new service by creating an online account in the portal.
An online code to connect an existing business license to the portal will be provided by the city.
Business owners can still visit the Glendale City Hall to apply for business licenses without creating an online SmartGov account.
