PHOENIX – The city of Chandler announced it is relaunching a program to provide coronavirus assistance to businesses who are keeping employees on the payroll.

The “I Choose Chandler Business Hiring and Retention Program” is designed to provide businesses with a maximum of $10,000 for keeping full-time employees hired during the coronavirus pandemic.

“Previously this program was able to provide much needed assistance to more than 540 small businesses in our community,” Mayor Kevin Hartke said in a press release on Monday.

“I am glad to see this successful program continue to support our local businesses through the pandemic to ensure a brighter 2021 for all.”

The program was originally created last summer with approximately $5.5 million from the Arizona Coronavirus Relief and Economic Security Fund.

Businesses looking for relief will be able to start submitting applications on Thursday. The deadline to apply is Feb. 25.

To qualify, businesses must be located in Chandler, have less than 100 full-time equivalent employees and lease a non-residential property among other requirements.

The funding will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis.
