PHOENIX — A suspect was arrested after he allegedly caused a car crash, fled the scene and held two people at gunpoint after breaking into a residence in Phoenix, authorities said Thursday.

Tyrrell Argusta, 32, was booked on charges of manslaughter, aggravated assault and leaving the scene of a fatal collision after the incident at the intersection of Seventh and Southern avenues at about 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Argusta allegedly failed to stop at a red light while traveling northbound on Seventh Avenue and struck a vehicle that was traveling westbound on Southern Avenue, Phoenix police said.

The driver of the other vehicle, 56-year Sheri Lishner, and a 26-year-old passenger in Argusta’s vehicle were transported to a local hospital for their injuries.

Lishner was pronounced dead at the hospital.

After the collision, witnesses said Argusta fled the scene on foot.

Police then received a call of a man who broke into a nearby residence, pointed a gun at the occupants of the home and allegedly struck one of the residents with the weapon before they escaped.

When officers arrived at the residence, Argusta allegedly refused to exit the home for about three hours before surrendering.

Police said they recovered the gun used by Argusta during the ensuing investigation.
