PHOENIX — The 35th Annual Arizona Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Awards and Scholarship Celebration will be held virtually in 2021, according to a press release on Tuesday.

The event, which honors Valley residents who create a compassionate and socially just community, will be broadcast Jan. 15 on the city of Phoenix’s YouTube page at 11 a.m.

Four people will also be honored with the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. “Living the Dream Award” as part of the celebration. Carolyn Bristo Chatman, Freddie Dobbins Jr., Angela R. Garmon and Mel Hannah will be recognized as members of the community who embody the ideas of the civil rights leader through commitment to human relations and social justice.
