PHOENIX — The 35th Annual Arizona Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Awards and Scholarship Celebration will be held virtually in 2021, according to a press release on Tuesday.

The event, which honors Valley residents who create a compassionate and socially just community, will be broadcast Jan. 15 on the city of Phoenix’s YouTube page at 11 a.m.

Harry Garewal will be honored with the Calvin C. Goode “Lifetime Achievement Award” that recognizes people who promote social and economic justice, defend civil rights and enhance the dignity of all people in the community.

Four people will also be honored with the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. “Living the Dream Award” as part of the celebration. Carolyn Bristo Chatman, Freddie Dobbins Jr., Angela R.
