Driver involved in fatal hit-and-run turns himself in to Phoenix police

PHOENIX — The driver in a fatal hit-and-run that occurred early Saturday morning has turned himself in, Phoenix police say.
Authorities responded to the scene near the intersection of McDowell Road and 32nd Street just before 1 a.m. and discovered that 33-year-old Jessica Lightner had been struck by a 1997 Nissan Truck.
Lightner was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release.
The driver, operated by an unknown person, continued driving and failed to remain at the scene after hitting Lightner, according to the release.
Witnesses directed police to the Nissan truck that was found near the intersection of McDowell Road and 24th Street, less than a mile away from the scene of the hit-and-run.
Around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, 35-year-old Sergio Campa Nareja and the passenger of the car called police and turned themselves in. Campa Nareja was arrested for leaving the scene.
