PHOENIX — All a 2-year-old pit bull wants for Christmas is a place to call his forever home after surviving a vicious attack.

Billy, a dog that once roamed free in rural Arizona, has been put up for adoption at Arizona Animal Welfare League, according to a press release on Monday.

The dog was found by a family one night with a puncture wound around his neck and throat, his ears were nearly cut off and a back leg was loosely hanging at his side.

Billy’s eyelids had also grown inwards, according to the release, causing pain with every blink.

The dog was rushed to the Arizona Animal Welfare League’s Phoenix location where he received multiple eye surgeries and three months of rehab.

Billy was able to receive care using funds from the organization’s medical miracle fund, according to the release, which pays for the most extreme medical cases that come to the shelter.

The pup is now ready to find a home for the holidays and those who would like to adopt Billy can make an appointment online.

Arizona Animal Welfare League says Billy can live with children of all ages, is social with other dogs and is a weekend athlete. He also knows some commands and is itching to learn more.

We want to hear from you.
